Extra Nice Mathieson Open Handled Rosewood Infill Smooth Plane – 7¼” Dovetailed Sole, Original Iron
A beautifully preserved Mathieson open-handled rosewood infill smooth plane featuring a dovetailed steel sole measuring 7¼” in length. This is a parallel-side infill design, showcasing the elegant proportions and craftsmanship typical of late 19th to early 20th century British makers. The plane retains its original 2 3/16″ wide Alex Mathieson iron, clean and properly bedded. The rosewood infill is rich and well-patinated, with an almost invisible tote repair—professionally executed and structurally sound. It does not affect function or aesthetics and would go unnoticed by most, though it’s disclosed here in the spirit of full transparency.A fine example for the user or collector seeking authenticity, quality, and understated elegance.Always free shipping from Michael Rouillard Tools.
