Fine Stanley No. 4 1/2 Jumbo Jack Plane – One Patent Date on the BedA desirable example of Stanley’s No. 4 1/2 jumbo jack plane, prized for its wider body and heavier proportions compared to the standard No. 4. This size was favored by cabinetmakers for smoothing large surfaces with authority and precision. This plane carries one patent date on the bed, a detail that helps place it within Stanley’s transitional production era and adds collector interest. The rosewood knob and tote show rich color and comfortable form, while the iron seats properly and the adjustment mechanism operates smoothly.Condition is fine overall, with honest patina and crisp details. The No. 4 1/2 remains one of Stanley’s most sought‑after bench planes, valued both as a working tool and as a collectible piece of Stanley’s golden‑age production.Always free shipping from Michael Rouillard Tools.
