Phenomenal Stanley No. 4½ C Corrugated Bottom Extra-Wide Smooth Plane – Early Type
Two Patent Dates on Bed – Long “Stanley Pat. Apl’d For” Iron – 95% Japanning – Gorgeous Rosewood
This is a superb early Stanley No. 4½ C smooth plane, prized for its extra-wide 2⅜” cutter and corrugated sole, which reduces friction and makes it ideal for smoothing large surfaces. The plane features two patent dates cast into the bed, a golden era of Stanley craftsmanship.
It’s equipped with a long “Stanley Pat. Apl’d For” iron, a hallmark of early production, and retains 95% of its original japanning, a testament to its preservation. The rosewood tote and knob are in excellent condition, with rich grain and color—no cracks or repairs.
