Superb Stanley No. 5¼ Smooth Bottom Junior Jack Plane – Four Square Model with Tote Decal & Sweetheart Iron
Offered here is a Stanley No. 5¼ Junior Jack Plane, a compact and highly collectible model from the Four Square era (circa 1923–1930), featuring a Sweetheart-marked cutter and a rare surviving Four Square decal on the tote—a placement less commonly seen and especially prized by collectors.
Measuring approximately 11½ inches in length with a 1¾ inch Sweetheart iron, this plane was originally marketed as a “Household Jack Plane”—a lighter, more manageable version of the No. 5, ideal for smaller hands or finer smoothing work. The smooth sole, crisp casting, and clear tote decal all reflect the quality of Stanley’s golden era of production.
The Sweetheart logo, in use from 1920 to 1935, confirms its period authenticity and enhances its appeal. These Four Square models were made in comparatively small numbers and are seldom found in such well-preserved, well-labeled condition.
A fine addition for collectors of Stanley’s transitional period tools or anyone drawn to the elegance of early 20th-century design.Always Free Shipping with Michael Rouillard Tools
